Watch a volcano erupt!

Mauna Loa, the world’s largest active volcano, erupts for the first time in almost 40 years in Hawaii!
The Mauna Loa volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii is usually a tranquil sight like this!


Earlier this week, the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory recorded video of lava flowing down the side of Mauna Loa volcano and into the summit below for the first time since 1984. In total, the volcano has erupted 33 times since its first recorded one almost 200 years ago.

Thankfully, the hot lava has not reached the communities below and Hawaiian citizens are not in danger so far.
