A truly cosmic Halloween scene

Get ready for liftoff, because NASA's jack o' lanterns are outta this world!

Carving pumpkins for Halloween can be pretty serious business. For some people, it's enough to just impress the neighbours as they come by trick-or-treating for the evening. Others even enter competitions for the best jack o' lanterns. It's pretty amazing just how many things people can make out of a simple pumpkin, some candles, and a lot of imagination.

3, 2, 1... trick or treat!

Take the scientists at NASA, for example. Every year, the space agency has a Halloween pumpkin competition, and this year's was full of the wacky, wild, and occasionally, mind-blowing. We've got a whole bunch of the entries below, courtesy of the Twitter feed of Aaron Yazzle, who is a mechanical engineer at NASA. Do you have a favourite? Let us know in the comments below!

And, of course... Happy Halloween!
