The highly anticipated 3-hour finale has arrived and it brings with it the closure we all hoped for. If you haven't seen Avengers: Infinity War yet, there's a spoiler ahead...

A journey like no other

Throughout the history of the wars and enemies we have watched the Avengers face, one thing was always certain. They would win. And all would be right with the world. But when we last saw our heroes in Avengers: Infinity War, the formula we had come to know changed. Thanos used the infinity stones to wipe out half of all life in the universe and our heroes lost...big time.

Avengers: Endgame kicks off a few months after the big wipe. With Tony Stark and Nebula still stuck in space, the remaining Avengers, fresh with anger over the loss, make an attempt to undo Thanos' actions and fail. The years that follow give us a look at our heroes as they deal with the feelings of pain and helplessness. Then, when an unexpected event occurs, the team is suddenly faced with fresh hope and a new plan to make one final attempt to return the world to what it once was.

Avengers, assemble!...for the last time

As with all the other Marvel films, you already know a bit of what to expect. The grand battle of all battles we've been waiting for is legendary — and easily the best action scene Marvel has ever released! It's long but fast-paced with so much happening that you simply can't take your eyes off the screen for a second. The powers, gadgets, explosions and plot twists are awesome. And of course, there are some funny moments to keep things light.

Hang on to those few bits of laughter though because like Infinity War, Endgame is pretty dark. Marvel abandons the usual fast-paced nature of its previous movies and spends a big chunk of time exploring how hurt and devastated the survivors are. We see how each hero finds a way to build a life in their new reality, while holding on to the memory of the friends and family they lost. Added to that, there are a few new losses in this film that might just bring you to tears.

If you haven't already, you can watch the trailer below.

Avengers: Endgame opens in cinemas today.
