Do you like Harry Potter?
Okay, okay, silly question. We're already 99.999999999% sure the answer is yes.
(If you're part of the 0.000000001% of readers who said no, you're officially excused from this post. We promise to have more cool stuff for you to read on Monday!)
This post isn't exactly about Harry Potter, but it's pretty close. It's about the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. You may remember the movie version being in theatres last fall.
Like many great movies, Fantastic Beasts started out as a book—and we got our hands on three copies of that book. One we sent to reader Rebecca, age 12, for review. The other two... well, we'll get to that! First, check out Rebecca's book review below.
According to Rebecca
I liked the way all the creatures are described—the book is detailed enough to visualize the creature and how they look. Also, I like how they included past or present day legends within the creature descriptions.
If I was being picky, I would say I don’t like the use of footnotes. It would have been easier to understand if the information from the footnotes were incorporated in the text. Overall, there is very little to dislike.
I find the book very interesting. I’m a Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts fanatic, and this book provides additional information on the creatures in both stories.
Also, it is a quick read but is still packed with tons of images and interesting information. Did I mention I was a fanatic?
Rating: 9.75/10 (Harry Potter reference). Real rating: 9.5/10.
