Issue 136 is emerging from the shadows!

We're talking Groundhog Day, Lunar New Year, and more as February begins!

Every two weeks, we publish a new issue of our tablet and computer-friendly eMag, OWLconnected. It's free for OWL magazine subscribers. Issue 136 is out today, and in it we are celebrating two animals...

Groundhogs and tigers!

What's that? You want to know what these two creatures could possibly have in common? The secret lays in the month of February. Just because it's the shortest month doesn't mean it's not packed with fun!

And in this issue, we get into all of it!

From the woods to the wetlands to the Moon

February 2 is Groundhog Day, a playful day where we learn about the fate of the rest of winter from an adorable, furry mammal. Is it all just silliness? Or is there more history to it than that?

February 2 is also World Wetlands Day, a time to honour some of the most important and diverse ecosystems on the planet! How well do YOU know the wetlands? Take our quiz and find out!

But wait a minute? Didn't we say something about tigers? Yes, we did! That's because according to the Chinese lunar calendar, this is the Year of the Tiger! ROOOAAARR! On February 1, it was Lunar New Year, and it kicked off celebrations all over the world. We're keeping the partying going into overtime with a beautiful craft and the story behind an amazing hockey jersey worn by the Vancouver Canucks made just for Lunar New Year.

What a great issue!
