My MATILDA THE MUSICAL Review

Olivia at Matilda the Musical in Toronto

MATILDA THE MUSICAL is a production playing at the Ed Mirvish Theatre in Toronto. It is the story of a young girl who is very smart and loves books. But Matilda is not treated well because her parents and principal don't like children. So she goes to the library every day and tells great stories. Matilda discovers she has the power to stand up for what is right. The singing and dancing were amazing, but my favourite part was when the principal, Miss Trunchbull, swings a student around by her braids! I think other kids would love the show. MATILDA THE MUSICAL is magnificent!

  1. Matilda! One of the few stories where my favourite character is surprisingly the protagonist, she kicks butt from beginning to end!

  2. Matilda of course – as a former teacher I recognize her as a teacher’s dream student, a delight to have as a student!

  3. MATILDA IS THE FAVOURITE CHARACTER – OF COURSE!

My grand-daughter and her little friend would absolutely LOVE to see Matilda with their mommas … what a sweet birthday gift this would be for both of them.

  4. Matilda is my favourite character in the novel, Matilda. She is unconventional, witty, and a strong character. She made it so fun to read the book! I loved Roald Dahl’s novels growing up as a kid. He is still my favourite author and I had the opportunity to visit th Roald Dahl museum in England which displayed how is magical characters came to life. During my visit in 2012, I saw a poster that Matilda musical was playing however did not get the chance to see it. I am beyond excited and hope to get this chance to see it in my hometown .

  5. Tim Minchin is a genius. He took the book and brought Matilda to life and then some….. 🙂 Would love to see the play/musical….JT

  6. Miss Truchbull – The Headmistress at Crunchem Hall Primary School is undoubtedly the most colorful character.

  7. I love Mrs.Honey because she is sweet, caring and kind. She is truly the example of a perfect teacher who goes above and beyond!

  8. Miss Honey is my favourite character because she was the ideal teacher I always wanted in school. So caring and nice to her students and, of course, sweet… like honey!

  9. Matilda is my favorite character. Despite her family’s lack of love and care for her she grew up a smart and independent girl. She’s the perfect example that something good can come out of everything.

  10. Matilda has been a life long inspiration to me. My first introduction to Matilda was as a child at the age of six. The lesson of being strong and carrying on through tough situations has always stuck with me through thick and thin. I’m 26 now.

  11. My favorite character is of course Matilda. She does what is right of her age and avoids doing what is wrong as told by her parents. She is a role model for other children. She represents the light in the darkness. I think this story is something both adults and children alike could learn off of. Definitely is one of my favorite childhood story! ?

  12. :)Mr. Wormwood is my Fav Character!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😆 😡 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛

  13. When I was a little girl I absolutely loved, and still do love, Miss Honey. She was the type of teacher I wanted to be when I grew up!

  14. I really like Lavender because she is a good friend to Matilda when she needs one. Everyone needs just one good friend!

  15. Love Miss Honey. She could see Matilda’s potential and took Matilda under her wing. She is very caring and kind.

  16. My favourite character in Matilda is Miss. Honey. She is such a nice teacher and really sees Matilda for who she is. I love how she helps her to accomplish her goals.

  17. My favourite character is Miss Honey. She’s so sweet to Matilda but fierce inside when shes shown how (admittedly the movie is much more recent than the book for me.. hopefully the details are the same).

  18. I love Matilda because she is brave and adventurous and she doesn’t always listen to her parents because they’re not so nice!

  19. Matilda! I wanted to be her when I was a kid. Seriously. What kid wouldn’t want powers like Matilda’s?! Thanks so much for the chance to see this musical!
